There will be days where prayer seems dry and laboured.
But there will also be days where each prayer feels like it is piercing through the veil of evil.
These are all important days.
We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.
Our job is to love people. When it hurts. When it’s awkward. When it’s uncool and embarrassing. Our job is to stand together, to carry the burdens of one another and to meet each other in our questions.
I’m learning that it takes time to find courage to jump from heights you’ve never been to, to explore lands unknown, and to reach for things that you have never held. It takes time to be brave, and sometimes we won’t have the courage we thought we should have, because when it comes down to doing, we have to have faith that our hearts will make it.
The Bible is full of people who were not ready or have the courage they thought they needed, but that’s when God says “I am.” and when He speaks that truth, that’s when it’s time to jump, to explore, and to reach. You won’t always be able to do something just because you think you’re capable of doing it, sometimes you have to put all your trust in Christ, and He then shows you that He is capable of it all; like healing a heart that has been wounded, or taking care of your future by investing in your present.
Jesus is everything, and we have but to ask Him to give Himself; all that is good is found in Jesus, so find Jesus today and learn to hear His voice in the midst of your fears, because He will be with you through it all.
Death was our old sentence, but Christ says that life is our new story; and that’s a story that needs to be read aloud, and often.
Sometimes I wonder how God ever could have looked down on us and loved us. We are so unlovable, so mean sometimes, so unworthy. But in His mercy He says to each of us, “I want you, I choose you, because I want to be a Father to you!”
